He was called to serve in the California Arcadia Mission.

I can't believe he actually did it and anyone who knows my brother would agree. But...I couldn't be more proud of him. He has changed his life around and has become an Amazing young man!

Camping

This has been a crazy summer. With a new baby, Youth Conference, brother leaving on a mission, and sister and best friend's wedding...we haven't had a lot of free weekends. 

But...we were Finally able to go camping this last weekend. We went with the Houses and the Wales up in the Uintas. I have been dying to go camping all summer. There is just something I love about being in the mountains with my family and friends.

This was an especially exciting camping trip because it was Kyson's first. 

Hopefully the first of MANY!

We took a walk down to the river and came across "Fairytale Land"

It was quit interesting but I have to admit it was a little creepy. It took us a while to figure out why there were hundreds of paintings on rocks and just random stuff everywhere but then we found the Sign In book. It made a whole lot more sense after that and it was actually pretty cool to walk around a see all the creative ideas.

Kyson all snuggled up for his first night in a tent. He actually did pretty good. He woke up a lot more frequently to eat but I think he got a little cold so that was his way of staying warm. :)

We hiked into Haystack Lake

What a beautiful little lake tucked away in the mountains.

Youth Conference

Eric and I were called as Youth Conference councilors not long after we got married. I never went to YC (I don't think it was an option in Rock Springs!) so I was a little nervous to be in charge of planning. I was also wondering how things would work with a new baby. But I put all my worries aside and tried to do my best. Luckily we had help from another couple in the 7th ward and from the young men and young women leaders.

Thursday night:

A kick off BBQ and speaker

Friday:

Utah Olympic Park

We gave all the youth a grade stake and told them to make a sword.

They did such and good job!!

Saturday:

We took the youth on a sunrise hike.

I think every single one of them complained from the time they had to wake up (5am) until we reached the top of the peak to watch the sunrise.

I'm not going to lie, it was a steep hike but SO worth it. 

The sunrise and view was breathtaking!!

Still some complaints but I think deep down they were glad they kept going to the top. 

Kyson did Great all weekend!

After watching the sunrise and taking in the miles of beauty around us we told the youth of the story about the Anti Nephi Lehis. 

Just like in the story, the youth had to bury their swords. And let me just tell you, some of them were NOT happy about this because of all the time and work they put into this project. 

Although I felt bad for them, this all worked out exactly the way we wanted it to.

We opened the time up for testimonies and I was amazed by the youth. The spirit was so strong as they shared their amazing testimonies. 

We feel so blessed to be able to be a part of this special weekend. Hearing the way it touched the youth made all the stress and hard work worth it!
